Morte Fishing

Printed on canvas

Morte fishing is when bears slowly move along a river looking for salmon that have spawned and died. This is not the flashy Brooks falls image of a bear catching a fish mid- jump. Instead it is more often what bears do to source fish. They swim or walk along a river pawing at cavities or diving underneath to find expired salmon laying on the riverbed.
